
Fernandez and Nota Named Scholar-Athlete Award Recipients

NEW YORK – Women's cross country senior Cristina Fernandez (Parsippany, N.J.) and men's soccer senior Andreas Nota (Rome, Italy) have been named Seton Hall's BIG EAST Conference Institutional Female and Male Scholar-Athletes, the conference announced Wednesday. Both Fernandez and Nota will receive scholarships of $2,000 to be applied towards graduate or professional studies.
Fernandez is a 2021 graduate of Seton Hall with a degree in biology and earlier this year she was named Seton Hall's New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year as well as Seton Hall's Most Valuable Pirate. She also is a four-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic team, an inductee into Chi Alpha Sigma, the student-athlete honor society, and a 2019-20 Seton Hall Academic All-Star for having one of the top-10 grade point averages in the athletics department. She also graduated with the department's academic merit award.

Nota is also a 2021 graduate of Seton Hall with a degree in information technology management and finance. He is a four-time member on the Seton Hall Dean's List and three-time BIG EAST All-Academic team honoree. He also was chosen as Seton Hall's Sophomore, Junior and Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year for having the highest GPA among his peers in his grade. Earlier this year, he was named CoSIDA Academic All-District 2.
