Four Pirates Earn 2020-21 NABC Honors Court Recognition

Kansas City, Mo. - Seton Hall men's basketball student-athletes Tray Jackson (Detroit, Mich.), Ike Obiagu (Abuja, Nigeria), Shavar Reynolds Jr. (Manchester, N.J.) and Tyrese Samuel (Montreal, Quebec) have all been named to the 2020-21 NABC Honors Court for outstanding academic achievement this past season, the organization announced Tuesday.

For Obiagu and Reynolds Jr., it is back-to-back years on the NABC Honors Court, which requires a 3.2 GPA or higher for the academic year.

Only five BIG EAST schools had selections to the 2020-21 NABC Honors Court with Seton Hall representing four of the 21 total student-athletes selected (19 percent).

Under 12th-year head coach Kevin Willard, Seton Hall men's basketball has been successful both on the court and in the classroom. As a team, the Pirates finished 2020-21 with a grade point average above 3.0, the sixth straight year the program has been above 3.0 at spring semester's end. In addition, in Willard's previous 11 seasons, Seton Hall has accumulated 72 BIG EAST All-Academic team selections, which requires a 3.0 GPA or above.
