How It Happened
The Huskies scored twice within the first 15 minutes of the game to take a commanding 2-0 lead. After halftime, the Pirates found a couple of opportunities offensively and put up six of their eight shots of the game in the second half.
Shortly after UConn's third goal of the contest, Tavana setup to take a free kick just beyond the 18-yard box. She took a chance on goal and her shot was on target but it was punched away by the keeper to force a corner kick. Consecutive shots on goal by junior Skyler Matusz (Kearny, N.J.) and senior Naomi Welch (Livingston, Scotland) in the 72nd minute served as one of the final sequences for The Hall to score.
