Bronx, N.Y. – Seton Hall men's cross country took a fourth-place team finish at the Metropolitan Championships on Friday morning. The Pirates sent six runners to Van Cortlandt Park as part of their split-squad weekend.
Freshman Stephen Beaman (Johnston, Iowa) was the top finisher for the Pirates for the first time this season. Beaman completed the 8k course in a time of 28:42.2, good enough for a 13th place finish overall. This marks the second straight meet in which Beaman has finished just outside the top-10 overall, as he recorded an 11th place finish two weekends ago at UMES.
Senior Andrew Walde (Edmonds, Wa.) was the second Pirate to cross the finish line, doing so in a time of 30:02.0 for a 16th place finish. Daniel Houston, Peter Smutelovic and Ethan Kim also finished for Seton Hall on the morning, while James Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.) did not finish.
The other half of the Pirates' split-squad features seven runners, all of whom will compete in tomorrow's Highlander Invitational hosted by NJIT. The men's race is slated to begin at 11:50 a.m. at Branch Brook Park in Newark.
