SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Senior Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) erupted for 20 points and 10 rebounds, but the Seton Hall women's basketball team fell to Columbia, 83-76, in Walsh Gymnasium on Thursday.

Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Sha'Lynn Hagans (Manassas, Va.) had 13 points, five assists and three steals and Alexia Allesch (Basking Ridge, N.J.) totaled 11 points and was a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range.

Columbia was 8-for-16 from three-point range in the first half, while the Pirates were just 1-for-8. The Lions took a 38-27 lead into the halftime break.
Trailing 47-35, The Hall went on a 7-0 run fueled by five points for Cooks with 7:01 to play in the third. Columbia, however, responded with three-pointers from Abby Hsu on back-to-back possessions to boost their lead back to 11. In the fourth, the Pirates made their move. Down 66-56, The Hall went on a 12-2 run, and a layup by Cooks gave the Pirates their first lead of the game, 71-70, with 2:54 to go. A minute and a half later with the score tied at 74, Baines found Hagans streaking down the court, and she scored to put The Hall up, 76-74, with 1:30 to go.
