GOODYEAR, ARIZ. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action this week with three rounds of golf at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Course, February 20-22.

THE COURSE:
Designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills, Palm Valley Golf Club's Palms Course is one of the most popular championship Phoenix Arizona golf courses. The excellent layout provides a stiff challenge for accomplished players, yet it is flexible enough for novices to enjoy. One asset that sets Palm Valley Golf Club apart from other Phoenix Arizona golf courses is its diversity in play. The Palms Course has been rated among Arizona's best public golf courses by The Phoenix Business Journal, and the 18th hole is routinely cited by avid players as one of the best par-5s in the state.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Loyola, the large field features 16 other teams including: Air Force, Bucknell, Delaware, Drake, Gonzaga, Hartford, Holy Cross, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, Missouri State, SIU-Edwardsville, South Dakota, Utah Valley and UT-Martin. The field also includes BIG EAST foes Creighton and DePaul.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

LAST TIME OUT:
Seton Hall opened the spring season with the BIG EAST Match Play event, easily dispatching St. John's and Sacred Heart, but falling in a close match, 2-3-1, to Connecticut for the title. Freshman Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia) was the lone Pirate to win all three of his matches during the two-day event.

The Loyola Intercollegiate is the first tournament of the spring season for the Pirates.

LAST TIME AT THE LOYOLA INVITATIONAL:
Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) fired a 1-under-par, 71, in the final round to lift the Pirates to a seventh-place finish at the 2020 Loyola Intercollegiate.

Ever consistent, Acevedo turned in his third consecutive 71 score on the strength of four birdies and 11 pars in round three. For the tournament, he tied for 13th place among 112 individual golfers with a 3-under-par, 71-71-71-213. Delaware's Roberto Nieves won the individual title at 11-under-par.

Across the field, scores were very low in round three. Despite firing a respectable 1-over-par, 289, the Pirates actually fell three spots to a seventh-place finish. For the three-day event, The Hall shot a 4-under-par, 290-281-289-860, which was the fourth-lowest par-72, three-round score in Seton Hall history.

TEE TIMES:
The field will play three rounds over three days with tee times beginning each day at 7:45 a.m. PT. The Hall will be paired with golfers from Loyola, Middle Tennessee and Delaware in round one.
