Woodward Named To The 2022 ABIS Basketball Assistant Coaches Watch List

South Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall men's basketball assistant coach Duane Woodward has been named to the 2022 Advancement of Blacks in Sports' (ABIS) Men's Basketball Assistant Coaches Watch List, the organization announced last week.
ABIS created watch lists for both men's and women's basketball mid-major head coaches and assistant coaches who are deserving and prepared to take the next step in their coaching careers. The ABIS Watch Lists are shared annually with athletic administrators and executive search firms during the hiring cycle.
Woodward, who has been successful as a collegiate coach and professional basketball player overseas, just completed his fourth season as an assistant coach on staff after being named to the position on July 2, 2018. His attention to detail in individual instruction and game planning has helped lift the Pirates to two NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2020 BIG EAST regular season title. He is also a staunch recruiter, focusing on New York City and its surrounding areas.
Woodward's work with Seton Hall's wings stands out, particularly with Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.)., Rhoden went from averaging 3.4 points per game as a freshman in 2018-19 to a All-BIG EAST First Team selection as a senior.
Woodward is a member of Coaches For Action, which brought together 21 BIG EAST assistant men's basketball coaches together on a shared mission to use the platform of athletics to educate and bring awareness to social injustices.
