NEW YORK — The Seton Hall men's basketball team will welcome the Iowa Hawkeyes to Prudential Center on Wednesday, Nov. 16 in the seventh annual Gavitt Tipoff Games, the BIG EAST and Big Ten announced Friday. Game times and television network assignments will be announced at a later date. All games will be televised on FS1 or BTN.
This will be Seton Hall's sixth appearance in the Gavitt Tipoff Games, a unique early-season series played between the two conferences and named in honor of Dave Gavitt, founder of the BIG EAST and a basketball visionary.
The Pirates will face the Hawkeyes for just the third time in program history but the second time in the Gavitt Games. The most recent meeting was a 91-83 win for The Hall at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 17, 2016. Similar to that matchup, the Pirates and the Hawkeyes are coming off of NCAA Tournament appearances. Iowa was last year's Big Ten Tournament champions.
Seton Hall is 3-2 all-time in the Gavitt Games. Last season's Gavitt Games matchup saw the Pirates knock off No. 4 Michigan in Ann Arbor, 67-65, on Nov. 16, 2021. It was the program's first win over a non-conference top-five opponent on the road.
