
Zavagli, Pirates Finish Strong at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) fired her second-consecutive 1-over-par, 72, on Sunday to lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday.

Zavagli had only three blemishes on an otherwise dazzling round that featured two birdies and 13 pars. For the tournament, Zavagli was 6-over-par with a 75-72-72-219. She tied for 11th among 71 individual golfers. Zavagli's 6-over-par is just one stroke shy of her career low for a tournament.Â

Princeton's Yanjun Liu ran away with the individual title at 9-under-par.

Collectively, the Pirates put together their best round of the tournament on Sunday, an 11-over-par, 295. For the three-round event, The Hall was 44-over-par with a 300-301-295-896. Yale won the team title at 2-over-par.

Two BIG EAST opponents are also in the field. Georgetown finished in third at 26-over-par, while St. John's placed 10th, 29 strokes behind the Pirates.

Senior Ludovica Busetto (Padova, Italy) turned in her best round of the fall season on Sunday, a 3-over-par, 74. She had only two blemishes during a terrific round that included 14 pars. For the tournament, Busetto tied for 18th with a 13-over-par, 76-76-74-226.

Sophomore Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) also turned in her top performance of the new season. She had four birdies in route to an even-par, 71. For the tournament, Sarrias Pro tied for 25th place with a 15-over-par, 73-84-71-228.

Freshman Ashni Solanki (Melbourne, Australia) shot a 9-over-par, 80, on Sunday. For the tournament, she tied for 38th place with a 19-over-par, 78-74-80-232.

Graduate student Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) finished her tournament with a 7-over-par, 78, in round three. For the two-day event, she tied for 44th with a 20-over-par, 76-79-78-233.

Seton Hall also had a pair of freshmen competing as individuals at Princeton and both saved their best rounds of the tournament for Sunday. Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) finished with a 30-over-par, 81-83-79-243, while Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) shot a 35-over-par, 83-85-80-248.

THE COURSE:
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â

Teams played five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

In addition to Seton Hall and two teams from host Princeton, the field is comprised of 10 other teams including: Albany, Columbia, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Harvard, Holy Cross, Pennsylvania, Princeton and Yale. A pair of BIG EAST opponents, Georgetown and St. John's are also in the field.
