
Sarrias, Zavagli Lead Pirates at UNCG Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) fired a 4-over-par, 76, to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team at the UNCG Collegiate on Monday. The event's second round was suspended due to darkness with about five holes remaining for the Pirates.

Sarrias Pro had three birdies and nine pars in the first round to fuel her team-leading round. She has struggled a bit so far in round two at 7-over-par through 13 holes.

As a team, The Hall shot a 47-over-par, 315, in the opening round and was in 18th place after 18 holes. So far in round two, the Pirates are 20-over-par with five or six holes remaining. High Point had the top team effort in round one, at 1-over-par. Georgetown, Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, shot 8-over-par in the first round.

Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) shot a 6-over-par, 78, in the morning, and is 4-over-par through 13 holes in round two.Â

Sophomore Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) fired an 8-over-par, 80, in round one, but only 5-over-par through 13 holes in round two.

Freshman Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) shot a 9-over-par, 81, in round two. So far in round two, she is 7-over-par through 14 holes.

Lastly, sophomore Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) shot a 13-over-par, 85, in round one, but is currently an impressive 4-over-par through 13 holes in round two.

THE COURSE:
The 18-hole West at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina is a resort golf course that opened in 1997. Designed by David Graham and Gary Panks, West at Grandover Resort measures 6800 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 136 and a 72.5 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels.
Opened in 1997, the West Course was formed with the naturally rolling terrain and elevation changes found in the Piedmont of North Carolina. A links style layout flows away from the resort for the first nine holes and returns for the inward nine.
THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

In addition to Seton Hall and host UNCG, the large field is comprised of 17 other teams including: Appalachian State, Citadel, Gardner Webb, Georgia State, High Point, Longwood, Marshall, NC Central, North Carolina Ashville, North Carolina A&T, Presbyterian, Radford, Richmond, Tennessee Tech, Towson and Winthrop. Fellow BIG EAST competitor, Georgetown, is also in the field.
