
Zavagli Shines as Pirates Finish 13th at UNCG Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) matched her career-best with a 3-under-par, 69, on Tuesday to help lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to a 13th place finish at the UNCG Collegiate.

Zavagli had four birdies and 13 pars during one of the best rounds of her collegiate career. For the tournament, she tied for 19th place among 107 individual golfers with a 6-over-par, 78-75-69-222. Hight Point freshman Anna Howerton won the individual title by eight strokes finishing with a remarkable 15-under-par.

As a team, The Hall shot up the team leaderboard on the final day, shooting a 12-over-par, 300. The Pirates finished 13th in the large 19-team field with a 62-over-par, 315-311-300-926. High Point claimed the team title at 6-under-par.Â

Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) had a pair of birdies in route to a 5-over-par, 77, in round three. For the tournament, she tied for 56th place with a 17-over-par, 76-80-77-233.

Sophomore Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) finished just one stroke behind Sarrias after a 6-over-par, 78, on Tuesday. For the two-day event, she was 18-over-par with an 80-76-78-234.

Freshman Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) saved her best round for Tuesday, collecting a 4-over-par, 76, in round three. For the tournament, she was 21-over-par with an 81-80-76-237.

Rounding out the Pirates' scoring, Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) shot a 9-over-par, 81, on Tuesday. For the event, she was 30-over-par with an 85-80-81-246.

THE COURSE:
The 18-hole West at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina is a resort golf course that opened in 1997. Designed by David Graham and Gary Panks, West at Grandover Resort measures 6800 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 136 and a 72.5 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels.
Opened in 1997, the West Course was formed with the naturally rolling terrain and elevation changes found in the Piedmont of North Carolina. A links style layout flows away from the resort for the first nine holes and returns for the inward nine.
THE FORMAT:
Teams played five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

In addition to Seton Hall and host UNCG, the large field was comprised of 17 other teams including: Appalachian State, Citadel, Gardner Webb, Georgia State, High Point, Longwood, Marshall, NC Central, North Carolina Ashville, North Carolina A&T, Presbyterian, Radford, Richmond, Tennessee Tech, Towson and Winthrop. Fellow BIG EAST competitor, Georgetown, is also in the field.
