
Pirates Set to Close Season at Battle of the Beach

Seton Hall will play three rounds at Rehoboth Beach C.C. starting Saturday.
REHOBOTH BEACH, DEL. - The Seton Hall women' golf team will wrap up the 2023 fall season when it plays three rounds of golf at the 2023 Battle at the Beach at Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Oct. 21-22.

THE COURSE:
Rehoboth Beach Country Club is the best golf course on the Eastern Shore inspiring golfers of all skill levels. Offering multiple tees, sculpted greens and fairways, challenging bunkers and ponds, as spectacular views greet golfers at every turn. Its proximity to the Rehoboth Bay provides a variety of changing winds and weather conditions which influence and enhance the experience.
Rehoboth Beach Country Club was the first golf course in Delaware to receive the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation from Audubon International in 2001. It is described as helping "golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf." Being located in the fragile inland bay region, Rehoboth Beach Country Club embraces this effort and is proud to be one of only 906 courses world-wide to receive this designation.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Delaware, the field is comprised of nine other teams including: Columbia, Delaware State, Harvard, Navy, Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac, Rutgers and William & Mary. BIG EAST opponent St. John's is also in the field.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE LINEUP:
Seton Hall will be bringing the entire team to compete at Delaware. The lineup and list of individuals is below, in order as indicated:
Senior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) matched her career-best with a 3-under-par, 69, on Oct. 10 to help lift the Pirates to a 13th place finish at the UNCG Collegiate. Zavagli had four birdies and 13 pars during one of the best rounds of her collegiate career. For the tournament, she tied for 19th place among 107 individual golfers with a 6-over-par, 78-75-69-222.Â

As a team, The Hall shot up the team leaderboard on the final day, shooting a 12-over-par, 300. The Pirates finished 13th in the large 19-team field with a 62-over-par, 315-311-300-926. High Point claimed the team title at 6-under-par.

LAST TIME AT REHOBOTH BEACH:
Ludovica Busetto fired an even-par, 72, in round three to lift the Pirates to a fifth-place finish at the 2022 Battle at the Beach. Busetto put the finishing touches on her best tournament of the year using three birdies and 12 pars to in route to an even-par, 72. For the tournament, she tied for eighth with a 6-over-par, 71-79-72-222.

As a team, the Pirates completed their top round of the tournament in round three, an 8-over-par, 296. For the two-day event, The Hall placed fifth with a 40-over-par, 298-310-296-904. Dartmouth won the team title at 16-over-par for the tournament.

THE SCHEDULE:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Saturday, and one, final round on Sunday. For Saturday's rounds, the Pirates will be paired with golfers from Rutgers and St. John's with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round pairings will be determined by the golfers' Saturday performance with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
