MOBILE, ALA. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will open the spring season with three rounds of golf at the 2023 Hal Williams Collegiate at RTJ Magnolia Grove Golf Club, Feb. 13-14.

THE COURSE:
The new Magnolia Grove features two renovated golf courses. Each championship course received extensive upgrades in recent years. Golfers will find more "player friendly" qualities without compromising the integrity of Robert Trent Jones' original design.

Magnolia Grove was recently named one of the "Top 50 Public Courses" by Golf World Magazine readers. The Crossings and Falls courses are also listed in Golf Digest's "Places to Play" as two of the nation's Great Value courses and as "America's Top 50 Affordable Courses."Â The topography at Magnolia Grove features creeks, marshland, and lakes with each of the 54 holes carved through indigenous hardwood and pine.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host South Alabama, the impressive field includes 13 other teams including:Â Arkansas, Davidson, Illinois, Kansas State, Kent State, Louisiana, Memphis, Oral Roberts, Southern Miss, Texas State, Toledo, VCU, and Western Kentucky.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

LAST TIME OUT:
Senior Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China) and junior Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) tied for 51st place overall to lead the Pirates to a 14th place tie at the ultra-competitive Daniel Island intercollegiate to complete the fall season on Nov. 1.

Xie had three birdies and 12 pars in route to his second even-par, 72, of the tournament. For the three-day event, Xie shot a 15-over-par, 72-87-72-231. Sun finished the tournament with an 8-over-par, 80, on Tuesday and completed the event with a 15-over-par, 74-77-80-231.

As a team, The Hall shot a 19-over-par, 307, in the final round. It finished the tournament tied with HCU for 14th place with a 56-over-par, 303-310-307-920. Among the teams that Seton Hall bested is the College of Charleston which has a higher Golfstat ranking.Â

THE SCHEDULE:
The field will two continuous rounds on Monday, followed by one final round on Tuesday.
