THE STORY:
After a quick-paced and evenly-played first quarter, the Pirates opened the second with a 15-0 run fueled by a trio of made three-pointers by Cooks. The Hall held the Blue Demons scoreless for the first 3:31 of the quarter and built a 33-22 lead. DePaul cut into the Pirates' lead, but Seton Hall was able to take a 51-42 lead into halftime.
The Pirates shot 64.5% from the floor in the first 20 minutes with both Park-Lane and Cooks reaching 20 points. Moreover, the dynamic duo were a combined 16-for-20 from the field in the first half.
A three-point play by Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) gave The Hall a 60-48 lead, but DePaul answered with an 8-0 run to cut their deficit to just four points, 60-56, with 5:12 left in the third quarter. Out of a timeout, the Pirates put up an 8-0 burst of their own to go back up 12 with 2:14 left in the third.
Seton Hall opened the fourth with a 12-3 run, and a put back by Cooks gave it its largest lead of the night, 80-64 with 5:24 left in the game. DePaul rallied again and cut the Pirates lead to just five, 85-80, with 1:02 left to play, but The Hall was able to ice the game on the free-throw line.
That's Seton Hall's final point of the night and the single-season record-breaker for Lauren Park-Lane.
