NEW YORK -- Senior Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after averaging a double-double with 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds to go along with 6.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week for Seton Hall.
Richmond is the first Pirate since Sandro Mamukelashvili in 2020-21 to earn multiple BIG EAST Player of the Week awards in the same season. He's also the first Seton Hall player to earn the league's top weekly honor in consecutive weeks since Myles Powell (Jan. 6, Jan. 13, 2020). Mamukelashvili and Powell both earned BIG EAST Player of the Year honors in those seasons.
In two road victories last week for the Pirates, Richmond shot 55 percent from the floor (17-of-31) and went 8-of-9 from the free throw line. He had a season-high 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out five assists in the Pirates' Quad 1 road win at Butler. Richmond ended up finishing one rebound shy of matching his career high in rebounds against the Bulldogs. He also scored the go-ahead layup with a minute to go and connected on four consecutive free throws that iced the win at Butler.
Richmond scored 20 points with eight rebounds and eight assists in the victory at Georgetown. In crunch time, Richmond came up with a steal on the defensive end and made it a two-possession game on a layup with 45 seconds left that helped seal the win over the Hoyas.
