
Offense Erupts as Pirates Exorcize Blue Demons, 91-78

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – All five Seton Hall starters reached double-figures in scoring as the Pirates defeated DePaul, 91-78, in an offensive outburst on Seton Hall vs. Cancer Day in Walsh Gym, Saturday.

The Hall used an 8-0 run, just minutes into the contest, to take the lead and never trailed again. Seton Hall pulled down 45 rebounds, a season-high in BIG EAST play, and shot 46.5 percent from the field.

Seton Hall had five players reach double-figures in scoring for the first time in over two years. Savannah Catalon (Burleston, Texas) and Micah Gray (Oklahoma City, Okla.) tied for the team lead with 21 points apiece. Sha'Lynn Hagans (Manassas, Va.) collected a season-high 15 points on the strength of 3-for-4 from three-point range. Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) and Kae Satterfield (New York, N.Y.) finished with 13 points apiece.

Trailing 10-7, The Hall went on an 8-0 run, and a three-pointer by Gray put the Pirates on top, 15-10, with 3:42 left in the first quarter. Gray was 3-for-4 from three-point range in the first quarter overall and her 13 points fueled a 22-17 lead after 10 minutes.

Already up 26-21, Seton Hall took off with an 11-0 run, and a three-pointer by Hagans gave it a 37-21 advantage with 5:17 left before halftime. The run extended to 16-3 on a three-point play by Catalon, which gave the Pirates their largest lead of the half, 42-24. The Hall shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and turned nine DePaul turnovers into 16 points. The Pirates took a commanding 51-32 lead into the break.

A three-point play by Catalon stretched The Hall's lead to 24 points, 77-53, with 6:40 left in the contest, and despite a late run, DePaul wasn't able to reduce its deficit to single-digits.Â

THE NUMBERS:
- Seton Hall was 33-for-71 (46.5%) from the floor for the game, while DePaul was 29-for-70 (41.4%). The Hall was 8-for-22 (36.4%) from three-point range, while the Blue Demons were 10-for-39 (25.6%).Â
- Catalon matched her career-high with 21 points on the strength of 11-for-11 shooting from the free-throw line. She also had a career-high seven rebounds and drew 11 fouls.
- The Hall out-rebounded DePaul, 45-to-35, which included a 13-to-9 edge on the offensive glass and a 16-to-12 advantage in second-chance points.
- Gray tallied 21 points on the strength of five made three-pointers.Â
- Seton Hall was 17-for-19 (89.5%) from the free-throw line, while DePaul was 10-for-12 (83.3%).
