Todorovic, Rane Lead Pirates to Finish at GCU Invitational

PHOENIX, ARIZ. – Sophomore Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) shot a career-best 1-over-par, 73, to fuel the Seton Hall women's golf team to a 15th place finish at the Grand Canyon University Invitational on Wednesday.

Todorovic bested her previous low round by four strokes, using two birdies and 13 pars to power a 1-over-par, 73, in round three. For the tournament, she was 18-over-par with an 85-76-73-234.

Freshman Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) also was only one over par for round three with nearly an identical round to Todorovic, two birdies and 13 pars. For the three-round event, she was 8-over-par with a 76-75-73-224.

As a team, The Hall shot a 9-over-par, 297, on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 15th place with the University of California, Irvine. For the two-day event, the Pirates were 29-over-par with a 300-296-297-893. New Mexico State won the team title at 18-under-par.

The top Seton Hall performer for the tournament was Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy). The senior used 15 pars to power a solid 3-over-par, 75, in round three. For the tournament, she tied for 49th place among 116 individual golfers with a 5-over-par, 72-74-75-221. New Mexico State's Emma Bunch won the individual title at 14-under-par.

Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) had a birdie and 13 pars in route to a 4-over-par, 76, on Wednesday. For the tournament, she tied for 54th place at 6-over-par, only one stroke behind Zavagli, with a 75-71-76-222.

Sophomore Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) shot a 7-over-par, 79, in round three. For the event, she was 16-over-par with a 77-76-79-232.

Competing as an individual, freshman Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) shot a 9-over-par, 81, in round three. For the tournament, she was 21-over-par with an 80-76-81-237.

THE COURSE:
A $9 million renovation project transformed the course into a premier golf destination while keeping the course available to the public for affordable rates. The rebranded GCU Golf Course opened in January of 2016 and experienced immediate success.

The golf course is home to the Lopes men's and women's golf programs. The teams are afforded access to the course and private practice areas reserved exclusively for team use. There is access to a private driving range tee, two private chipping greens, bunker and chipping areas. The coaches' offices and a private team area are located on the second floor of the new clubhouse.

Following the extensive renovation, the course features include new tee boxes, challenging greens, extended fairways, enhanced bunkers, updated practice facilities and a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse including a restaurant and bar, second-story practice facility and fully equipped pro shop. Its stunning redesign shapes the GCU Golf Course as a traditional walking golf course accented with beautiful greens, preserved full-grown trees planted in the early 1960s and distinct, memorable holes.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Grand Canyon University, the massive field was comprised of 19 other teams including: Eastern Washington, Houston Christian, Idaho, Long Beach, Marshall, Montana State, New Mexico State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Oral Roberts, Seattle, Southern Utah, Tarleton State, UC Fullerton, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UT El Paso.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will played five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
