Waggoner's win came in a time of 16:18.01, which was also an NCAA "B" cut time. The time broke her own school record of 16:28.27 which was set during the WVU Invite earlier this season. Waggoner also swam a 1000 Free split of 9:50.63 during her victory, also surpassing her school record time from WVU of 9:56.82.

Graduate student Madeleine Bachand (Raleigh, N.C.) also posted a strong performance in the mile, taking eighth place overall with a time of 17:12.03.
In the 100 Free, Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.) narrowly missed matching her own school record by touching the wall in 50.27, good enough for a fourth-place finish in the event. Heim was just behind her time of 50.15 that she achieved during last year's BIG EAST Championships.
Heim would go on to swim the opening leg of the Pirates' 400 Free Relay to finish off the night. She, along with Leiya Istambouli (Danbury, Conn.), Amanda Zajdzinski (Mesa, Ariz.) and Lea Moeller (New Lenox, Ill.) posted a time of 3:23.91 to finish in fourth place.
At the conclusion of the meet, Waggoner and Silvia Alessio (Trieste, Italy) each received individual awards for their efforts during the BIG EAST Championships. Waggoner was named Women's Co-Most Outstanding Swimmer, while Alessio was named Women's Most Outstanding Diver.
