
Seton Hall Falls at Florida Atlantic on Friday

BOCA RATON, FLA. – Sophomore Senna Roberts-Navarro (Honolulu, Hawaii) had a team-high eight kills, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell at Florida Atlantic, 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 15-25), on Friday night.

Florida Atlantic had a .293 attack percentage for the game, compared to just .106 for The Hall.Â

Roberts-Navarro had a team-high eight kills, with only two attack errors. Graduate student Reagan Merk (Huntington Beach, Calif.) had five kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Rylee Nelson (Mazeppa, Minn.) tallied a team-high 14 digs.

Seton Hall had a .073 attack percentage, compared to .300 for Florida Atlantic in set one. Roberts-Navarro had a kill for the first point of the match, but FAU scored the next five points and never trailed again. Another kill by Roberts-Navarro cut The Hall's deficit to 20-16, but the Owls closed out the set with five of the last six points.

Trailing 8-5, The Hall score five of the next six points, and a kill by Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) gave it a 10-9 lead. Down 17-15, Florida Atlantic five of the next six points and forced a Seton Hall timeout. The Hall was facing set point at 24-21, but back-to-back errors by FAU cut its deficit to only one, 24-23, and forced a timeout. The Owls, however, regrouped and downed The Hall, 25-23, in set two.

The Owls never trailed in the final set. With the score tied at three, FAU scored four straight and the Pirates played "catch up" the rest of the way. A block by Grace Turner (La Grange Highlands, Ill.) and Maddy Loiselle (Danville, Calif.) brought The Hall to within 13-9, but Florida Atlantic scored seven of the next nine points to grab a 20-11 lead. They went on to take the final set, 25-15.
