
Sarrias Leads Pirates After Two Rounds at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, PA. – Senior Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) is 5-over-par and has fueled the Seton Hall women's golf team to a 10th place standing after two rounds of the 2024 Nittany Lion Invitational on Saturday.

Sarrias Pro had three birdies and 11 pars in route to a 1-over-par, 73, in round one. In round two, she carded a 4-over-par, 76. After 36 holes, Sarrias Pro is tied for 23rd place among 83 individual golfers with a 6-over-par, 73-76-149. Princeton's Catherine Rao leads the field by six strokes at a remarkable 7-under-par.

As a team, The Hall shot a 22-over-par, 310, in the morning, but shaved off 10 strokes in the afternoon for a 12-over-par, 300. Through two rounds, the Pirates are in 10th place with a 34-over-par, 310-300-610. Princeton is the leader in the clubhouse at 2-over-par with 18 holes left to play. They have a three-shot lead over Delaware.

Freshman Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) had two birdies and 11 pars to fuel a 2-over-par, 74, in her first collegiate round. In round two, she had a 4-over-par, 76. Currently, Aguilar is tied for 29th place with a 6-over-par, 74-76-150.

Amelie Gras (Elancourt, France) had an up and down first day as a collegian. In round one, the freshman shot a 10-over-par, 82. In the afternoon, however, Gras shot the best Pirate round of the day, using 16 pars and a birdie to power an even-par, 72. Through 36 holes, she is 10-over-par with an 82-72-154.

Sophomore Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) also had a dramatic improvement in round two. In the morning, she shot a 9-over-par, 81. In the afternoon, used 12 pars to fuel a 4-over-par, 76. Through two rounds, she's 13-over-par with an 81-76-157.

Sophomore Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) rounded out the Seton Hall lineup with an 11-over-par, 83, in round one, followed by a 6-over-par, 78, in round two. Currently, she's 17-over-par with an 83-78-161.

THE FIELD
In addition to Seton Hall and host Penn State, the field is comprised of 12 other teams including: Akron, Columbia, Central Arkansas, Central Michigan, Delaware, Harvard, Jacksonville State, Princeton, Richmond, Towson, Yale and Youngstown State.

THE FORMAT
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

SCHEDULE
The field will play two continuous rounds (36 holes) on Saturday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m., and a single, final round on Sunday. Sunday's shotgun start will begin at 8:30 a.m. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Youngstown State and Akron for the first two rounds on holes 11 through 14.
