SCOUTING FORDHAM
Seton Hall and Fordham will meet for the 25th time in history on Saturday with the Pirates having dominated the all-time series. The Hall has won 20 of the prior 24 matches and three straight. However, the teams haven't met since the 2014 season.
Â
The Rams are coming off a 17-12 season overall, which included an 8-10 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Fordham struggled down the stretch, dropping four of its final five regular season games and saw its season come to an end with a five-set loss to VCU in the A-10 Tournament.
Â
Fordham is picked to finish sixth in the 10-team Atlantic 10 in 2024, according to its preseason coaches' poll. The Rams return eight players who finished in the top-10 in sets played a year ago, one of those being setter Whitney Woodrow who saw action in all 110 sets for the Rams in 2023.
Â
The Rams enter the weekend with a 3-4 record overall. Prior to hosting The Hall, Fordham will host Binghamton on Friday night. The Rams split two matches last weekend, falling to Lafayette on Friday in five sets before outlasting FDU in five on Saturday. Fordham's two other victories came in a sweep against Manhattan on Sept. 6 and a four-set win at Columbia on Sept. 7.Â
Â
UP NEXT
Next week the Pirates will begin the BIG EAST portion of their schedule. The Hall will travel to Queens, N.Y. for a match at St. John's on Friday at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Pirates will welcome Villanova to Walsh Gymnasium at 5:00 p.m.
