
Sarrias, Aguilar Lead Pirates After 36 Holes in Princeton

 PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) and Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) are 7-over-par and have paced the Seton Hall women's golf team to a seventh place standing despite the rain after two rounds of the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.

Sarrias Pro had a 5-over-par, 76, in round one, but used a birdie and 14 pars to pace a 2-over-par, 73, in round two. Aguilar had a 3-over-par, 74, in the morning, and was only one shot worse in the afternoon with a 4-over-par, 75. Both Pirates are currently tied for 13th among 75 individual golfers. Princeton's YanJun Liu leads the individual field at 2-under-par.

As a team, The Hall shot a disappointing 30-over-par, 314, in the opening round, but bounced back and shaved off 18 strokes in the afternoon. The Pirates' 12-over-par, 296, was the fourth-best team effort of the second round and enabled them to climb to seventh place with a 42-over-par, 314-296-610. Princeton leads the field by 23 strokes entering Sunday's final round.

Freshman Amelie Gras (Elancourt, France) had a 9-over-par, 80, in round one, but shaved off seven strokes in the afternoon. In round two, she had three birdies and 10 pars in route to a 2-over-par, 73. For the tournament, she's tied for 28th place with an 11-over-par, 80-73-153.

Sophomore Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) shot a 16-over-par, 87, in round one, but was 12 strokes better in round two with a 4-over-par, 75. Through 36 holes, she's tied for 59th with a 20-over-par, 87-75-162.

Junior Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) shot a 13-over-par, 84, in round one, and an 11-over-par, 82, in round two. She is currently 24-over-par for the tournament with an 84-82-166.

After a DQ in the first round, sophomore Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) shot a 12-over-par, 83, in the second.

Competing as an individual, junior Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) shot a 10-over-par, 81, in round one, followed by a 14-over-par, 85, in round two. For the tournament, she's 24-over-par with an 81-85-166.

THE COURSE
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â

In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field is comprised of 10 other teams including: Albany, Boston University, Columbia, Dartmouth, FDU, Harvard, Pennsylvania and Yale. Also joining the field are two BIG EAST opponents: Georgetown and St. John's.

Teams will play six golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The field will play two continuous rounds. On Sunday, the field will play one final round, also with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
