1/7/2025 12:09:00 PM | Women's Basketball
NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Faith Masonius (Spring Lake, N.J.) was named one of the United States Basketball Writer's Association (USBWA) National Players of the Week on Tuesday.
Â
For the period through Sunday, Jan. 5, the five Ann Meyers Drysdale national women's honorees of the week are Kentucky guard Georgia Amoore; UCLA center Lauren Betts; Drake guard Katie Dinnebier; Florida State guard Ta'Niya Latson; and Seton Hall forward Faith Masonius.
Â
The USBWA women's awards, organized under Mel Greenberg, the USBWA Vice President for women's basketball, are chosen from weekly conference honors as well as at-large additions. Nominations are welcome as each seven-day period rolls along to make sure no one is inadvertently overlooked.
Â
Masonius continued her breakout season with a pair of significant BIG EAST performances last week for Seton Hall. On Wednesday at Villanova, Masonius had a team-high 17 points to go with five rebounds and two steals. Down a point and surrounded by four defenders, Masonius flipped the ball over her head, backward, and into the basket for a game-winning, buzzer-beater. Against Georgetown on Saturday, Masonius poured in 21 points on an efficient 7-for-11 shooting to go with six rebounds and six assists.
Â
Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 11 when it hosts Creighton in historic Walsh Gymnasium. Tip time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live by the BIG EAST Digital Network and available for FloCollege subscribers.
