NEW YORK, N.Y. – Major League Soccer (MLS) announced today that senior defender Agustin Resch (Arata, Argentina) was one of 45 collegiate athletes invited to the 2025 MLS College Showcase from December 10-13 in Mesa, Arizona.
The closed-door event will allow 100 scouts, coaches, and general managers from MLS Clubs an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation, including players with remaining NCAA eligibility, ahead of the 2026 MLS Superdraft scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on December 18, 2025.
"We're incredibly proud of Agustin being invited to the MLS Combine," said Head Coach Andreas Lindberg. "This is a huge moment for him and a big milestone for our program. When players come to Seton Hall, they get both the right looks and opportunities. Agustin is proof of that. He has grown tremendously during his time with the Pirates, both as a player and as a person. This invitation is well-deserved, and we know he's on the path to becoming a future professional. We're excited to see him represent Seton Hall and make us proud."
Resch, who was a 2024 Second Team All-BIG EAST selection after his first season as a full-time starter in 2024, came into the 2025 season with high expectations. Not only was he named BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, but he also held the responsibility of being a team captain. The six-foot-six-inch centerback surpassed all expectations this season to produce one of the best seasons by a backline player in program history.
As the central figure of the Pirates' defensive scheme, Resch helped the Pirates navigate the toughest strength of schedule in the nation to a top twenty RPI in the nation and a second-round berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2020 season.
As a result, by season's end, he was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-BIG EAST First team. His win marked the second time in program history a Pirate has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, with the only other recipient being Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Famer George Nazario in 1990.
Among the 44 invited college athletes, Resch is one of fourteen defenders making up this year's field. In addition, he is one of four BIG EAST players scheduled to attend the event, joining Akron goalkeeper Mitch Budler, UConn netminder Kyle Durham and Xavier midfielder Cooper Forcellini. If selected in the MLS Superdraft, Resch will become the sixth Pirate selected during the draft, joining Sacha Kljestan, Luke Vercollone, Ryan McGowan, Phil Swenda and Peter Scavo.

Defensively, the Argentinian started every game and shut down opposing attackers with his length and speed, helping earn The Hall a 0.832 GAA, good for 27th in the nation. Offensively, he had a career-best season as a scorer and a passer, collecting career-high marks in assists (3) and goals (3), including scoring the Pirates' lone goal in The Hall's clash against Siena in its opening game of the NCAA Tournament.RESCH OFF THE CORNER FOR THE LEAD!!!#HALLin🔵⚪️⚽️ | 🏴☠️x🇦🇷 pic.twitter.com/zBltwflmnO
