Pirates Open Spring in Playa del Carmen This Weekend

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MEXICO. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will open the spring season at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate in beautiful Playa del Carmen, Mexico, February 2-4.

THE COURSE:
The Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club is a stunning location surrounded by nature, exotic animals and ancient ruins. Playa Paraíso is an extraordinary place where you will find lush jungle vegetation and some of the world's most famous archaeological sites. The renowned golf course architect P.B. Dye designed this magnificent place, making it one of his best creations.

For more than a decade, Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club has secured its place in the history books of international golf. The club has hosted prestigious events such as the World Amateur Team Championships 2016, Big Break Mexico, Iberostar Riviera Maya Open, is an 11-time host of the classification round for the Mayakoba Golf Classic OHL PGA TOUR and host of the Bupa Match Play – PGA Tour Latinoamérica 2018-2019. Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club shows its high standard, being a preferred course for the most demanding golfers. With several starting points, players of all levels can enjoy the course.

THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host UTRGV, the field includes 13 other schools: Abilene Christian, California Baptist, Denver, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, North Texas, Northern Colorado, Southern Methodist, Texas-Arlington, Texas-El Paso, Texas-San Antonio, Western Carolina and Wichita State.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
