NEW YORK – Senior defender Cassidy Brown (Caldwell, N.J.) and sophomore goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith (Monument, Colo.) were each named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
The defensive tandem each played integral roles in Seton Hall's scoreless draw at UConn last Wednesday night. Kleinsmith stopped eight shots in goal on the night, continuing her strong run of play throughout the season. The ninth shot on target from UConn was stopped by Brown, clearing a would-be goal off the line after Kleinsmith was caught off her line.
The Huskies tallied 28 total shots on the night, but thanks to the aid of Brown and Kleinsmith, no scoring opportunity emerged too threatening.
The Pirates return to Owen T. Carroll Field this Saturday against Providence at 1 p.m. as they will celebrate Senior Day.
