Mason Christopher Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

NEW YORK – Sophomore left-handed pitcher Mason Christopher has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
The Middletown, N.J. native was dynamite in relief in Saturday's 7-2 win over Manhattan in the Pirates' finale at the Puerto Rico Challenge. Christopher tossed five innings in relief, striking out 10 batters and allowing just four hits and one run. The 10 strikeouts are a new career-high for Christopher, who also earned his first career win during the outing.
Christopher and the Pirates head to Shipyard, S.C. this weekend to take part in the Swig & Swine Classic, where they will face George Mason, Merrimack and Ball State.
