NEW YORK – Junior guard Budd Clark has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. Clark averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 assists, 3.0 steals and shot 53.8 percent (14-for-26) from the field.
It marks the fourth BIG EAST weekly honor for Clark this season and the third time he has been named to the Honor Roll.
Clark had one of the best all-around games by anyone in the nation on Wednesday night in the win over Providence, scoring 31 points along with eight assists, five steals and just one turnover. Per Elias, Clark is the first BIG EAST player since at least 1996-97 to post such a stat line in a regulation game. He is the first BIG EAST player to do so in any game since Jonny Flynn in the 2009 BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinal game against UConn which went six overtimes. Clark scored 21 of his 31 points in the second half as he helped the Pirates overcome a halftime deficit.
Clark then had eight points and seven assists in Sunday's win at Butler, once again proving instrumental in the second half. He had six points and six assists in the second half as the Pirates rallied late to cap off a 2-0 week.
Clark and the Pirates play twice at home, taking on DePaul (Wed., 8 p.m., truTV) and Georgetown (Sat. 6 p.m., FS1).
