Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Red Storm:Â St. John's leads, 52-41
Earlier This Year:Â

Â
AGAINST ST. JOHN'S
Seton Hall and St. John's will meet for the third time in 28 days this season with the Pirates looking to avenge a regular season by the Red Storm. St. John's has a 52-41 all-time series lead, but The Hall has won six of the last nine games in the series. This will be the 10th time these two original BIG EAST schools have met in the BIG EAST Tournament with St. John's owning a commanding 7-2 lead in the prior nine meetings. Their last meeting was a 76-51 rout by the Red Storm in the opening round of the 2019 event at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST ST. JOHN'S
For the first time since the 2020 season, St. John's swept Seton Hall in the regular season series. Senior Jordana Codio (Winter Garden, Fla.) had a game-high 14 points, but the Pirates were outlasted by St. John's, 59-56, on Senior Day in Walsh Gymnasium on Feb. 22. After a solid-shooting first quarter, the Pirates shot only 26.5 percent from the floor and were just 2-fo-13 from three-point range over the final three quarters.
Â
In their first game this year, on Feb. 7, graduate student Mariana Valenzuela (Mazatlan, Mexico) had a team-high 17 points, but The Hall fell to St. John's, 67-61, in Queens. After a most-even first half, St. John's shot 60 percent from the floor in the second half, which included 6-for-9 shooting from three-point range. Seton Hall was able to turn the Red Storm over 23 times, but was beaten badly on the glass, 42-23.
Â
The Hall has averaged only 58.5 points per game in two losses to the Red Storm this season.
Â
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
St. John's was picked to finish sixth according to the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll and that's exactly where they finished. The Red Storm completed the regular season with a 21-10 overall record and an 11-9 mark in BIG EAST play, which included a sweep of the Pirates. Their numbers aren't gaudy, but they get production from up and down the lineup with six players averaging at least 6.2 points per game. Brooke Moore enters the postseason with a team-best 12.0 points per game. The Red Storm was the third-best defensive team in the league, allowing only 60.8 points per game.
Â
UP NEXT
