
Aguilar, Stewart Fuel Pirates in Round One at Banister Classic

GLENCOE, ALA. – Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) and Isabella Stewart (Wicklow, Ireland) shot a 2-over-par, 74, in the opening round of the Chris Banister Classic and have led the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fifth-place standing after 18 holes.

Aguilar had two birdies and 12 pars, while Stewart collected three birdies and 10 pars. The duo is currently tied for 12th place among 93 individual golfers. They trail the leader, Bradley's Caroline McConnell by four strokes entering Monday's second round.

As a team, The Hall shot a 19-over-par, 307, on Sunday. The Pirates have plenty of room for movement as they're only four strokes out of second place.  No. 21 Tennessee is the current team leader at 3-over-par. They lead the field by 12 strokes.

Junior Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) had 12 pars to fuel a 7-over-par, 79, in round one, while classmate Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) is only one stroke behind at 8-over-par with an 80.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, senior Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) is 16-over-par following an 88.

Playing as an individual, senior Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) is 17-over-par with an 89.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Jacksonville State, the field includes 14 other schools:Â Akron, Alabama-Birmingham, Bradley, Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana State, Jacksonville, Longwood, North Dakota, Samford, Tennessee, Tennessee-Chattanooga, Troy and West Georgia.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
The teams will play 54 holes over three days with 18 holes being played each day, Sunday through Tuesday. The field will play the "Mindbreaker" nine-hole course, followed by the "Heartbreaker" nine-hole course each day.
