CHICAGO, ILL. — Aided by another stellar defensive showing, the Seton Hall Pirates (4-0-3, 0-0-1 BIG EAST) stayed undefeated after earning a scoreless draw against the DePaul Blue Demons (3-2-4, 0-0-1) in Chicago, Illinois, to open BIG EAST play.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith led the way for the Pirates on the defensive end, recording four saves on the afternoon, including the game-saving moment in the 90th minute to keep secure the result for The Hall.

With the draw, the Pirates extend their unbeaten streak to 7 games to start the year, including three-consecutive scoreless draws.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening stages of the match, neither side managed to sustain an advantage. They each took turns with the ball in the attacking half, splitting the momentum. However, the Pirates played more calmly as the opening minutes wore on.

A through ball from Brianna Azevedo provided the Pirates' best opportunity of the opening minutes, but it merely resulted in an off-the-frame shot for The Hall. Yet, as the end of the half approached, neither side had managed a quality chance.
As the halftime whistle sounded, the two sides had managed three shots each, none of which were on target.

As the second half began, Kate Kleinsmith was called into action. In the 50^th minute, a Blue Demons shot forced a diving save from the sophomore netminder. Two minutes later, she collected another save on a ball down the middle of the goal to keep the match scoreless. The Hall's Sabrina Campbell responded by breaking loose in the 59^th minute, finding herself atop of the Blue Demons' 18-yard box. The senior readied herself before unloading a powerful shot that went just north of the goal.

Later on, Seton Hall received their best look at the net in the 78th minute with some good combination play. Kaylin Mallon played the ball to midfielder Gianna Delgado before the Rutgers transfer unloaded on the net. Although her shot went wide, Nicole Proia joined the fray and attempted to finish the shot but was unable to finish the chance.

The Pirates' final chance of the game came in the 86^th minute when Brianna Azevedo found her way towards goal. Azevedo launched a laser towards the goal, but it was ultimately collected by DePaul's keeper. As the final moments approached, Kleinsmith was called upon once more to save the day. At full force, she made a sliding stop on a DePaul attacker who slipped behind the Pirates' back line, keeping the game at 0-0 as the final whistle sounded in the Windy City.
