Kate Kleinsmith Named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week

NEW YORK – Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith (Monument, Colo.) has been named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Kleinsmith posted another shutout on Saturday in the BIG EAST opener at DePaul, where the Pirates earned a point thanks to a 0-0 draw. The sophomore was tasked with making four saves on the afternoon, including a full extension stop near the end of the first half. Kleinsmith also made a game-saving stop in the 90th minute which preserved the clean sheet.
Kleinsmith now has posted four consecutive shutouts while the Pirates as a team have still not conceded a goal since the season opener back on Aug. 16.
BIG EAST play continues on Wednesday night as the Pirates return to Owen T. Carroll Field to host Butler at 6 p.m.
