Melissa Bellomy ’10 – Volleyball
Melissa is currently an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas, in the divisions of cardiothoracic anesthesiology and critical care medicine. She splits her time between the operating room and the cardiovascular ICU. Her passion is in education, and she is the rotation director for UT Southwestern anesthesiology residents for cardiothoracic anesthesiology. In 2022, she was named Junior Faculty of the Year and a recipient of the Resident Teaching Award, Cardiothoracic Fellow Teaching Award, and Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Teaching Award. Melissa also has a passion for women in academic medicine, specifically in the field of anesthesiology, and is the founder and president of the Women in Anesthesiology group at UT Southwestern. Melissa was a member of the Seton Hall volleyball team from 2006-09 and is the only student-athlete in program history be named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District three times. After graduating from Seton Hall summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, Melissa earned an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and was a finalist for the 2010 NCAA Walter Byers Award, considered to be the NCAA’s highest academic honor. She was accepted into Harvard Medical School and earned her Doctor of Medicine in 2014. Her specialty became anesthesiology, and she completed both her residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Daisy Bygrave, ’97 – Track & Field
Daisy has been practicing law for over 20 years and currently runs her own firm, Bygrave Law, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, specializing in criminal defense litigation. Daisy competed on Seton Hall’s track and field team and was named an All-American in 1997 after her 4x400 relay team finished fifth at the NCAA Indoor National Championship. She also was a part of relay championship winning teams at the ECAC Championship, Millrose Games and Mobil Invitational. She was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and was a College Sports Communicators Academic All-America third team selection in 1997. After graduating magna cum laude from Seton Hall, Daisy obtained her law degree from Harvard Law School in 2000. Before starting her own firm back at home in Toronto, Daisy worked for the prestigious Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, trying cases as severe as homicide, and served as Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California, where she first worked at the appellate level and then in the trial division. During her time in California, she represented individuals on California’s death row and other individuals facing life sentences and reviewed trial records to uncover errors in the defense strategy and conducted new investigations in an effort to give clients one final opportunity at exoneration.
Danielle Zanzalari, ’10 – Softball
Danielle is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics here in Seton Hall University’s Department of Economics and Legal Studies. Her research interests broadly focus on the impact of regulations in the banking sector, but she also has an interest in the effects of New Jersey policies on the local economy. Danielle walked on to the Seton Hall softball team in 2006 and went on to earn a scholarship and appear in 66 career games for the Pirates as a pitcher. She was a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic and a 2010 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. After graduating summa cum laude from Seton Hall, Danielle earned her Master of Economics and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Clemson University and went on to work as the Vice President of Credit and Portfolio Risk at Citigroup and as a Financial Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. She helped design the econometric evaluation guidelines for bank stress testing while at the Fed and helped oversee model development for Citigroup. Prior to Seton Hall, Danielle has taught at Clemson University, Boston College and University of North Texas Dallas and has won multiple awards for her teaching, including UNT Dallas Faculty Teacher of the Year in 2019.
Rosetta Ellis-Pilie '96
Rosetta is currently ESPN's vice president, talent development and negotiations. In that role, she leads the day-to-day efforts of ESPN’s Talent Office, which is responsible for hiring, developing and guiding ESPN’s commentator team, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with many ESPN departments and external contacts on all matters related to commentator roles and responsibilities. Most recently, Rosetta served as vice president and assistant chief counsel. As part of that wide-ranging role, she has been instrumental in developing, negotiating and finalizing hundreds of agreements related to ESPN’s rights, content, and on-air commentators. Recent examples include her direct involvement in ESPN’s groundbreaking agreement with UFC, Stephen A Smith’s contract extension, and legal management of the multi-faceted sports and entertainment elements of the ESPYS and ESPN Radio. Rosetta served in the United States Army and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. She has received numerous awards for excellence and her stationed sites included Germany, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait. She participated in The Walt Disney Company’s “Heroes Work Here” campaign, which helps hire, train and support military veterans entering the civilian workforce. She was featured in the program’s national ad campaign, moderated a related panel, and appeared on The View during its Salute to Military episode. Among her honors, Rosetta was recognized in 2016 by Savoy Magazine as one of the Top 100 Influential Women in Corporate America. A graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.A. in criminal justice and a minor in business administration, the New Jersey-native earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. While there, she served as a member of the Virginia Law Review, the Virginia Journal of Social Policy & Law, and on the inaugural Managing Board of the Virginia Sports and Entertainment Law Journal.
