Pirates Drop Series Opener at Butler on Friday

Indianapolis, Ind. – The Seton Hall baseball team opened its three-game weekend series at Butler on Friday afternoon, falling to the Bulldogs, 8-3.
How it Happened
Both offenses were quiet out of the gates, with the game being scoreless entering the third inning. After a strikeout to start the inning, a single and a pair of hit batsmen loaded the bases for Magnus Krieger with one out. Krieger laced a ball to right field, clearing the bases and giving Seton Hall the early 3-0 edge.
Butler was able to answer back in the bottom of the third, scoring a pair of runs to pull back within a run, 3-2. The Bulldogs would then take the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run home run, and would add insurance tallies in the fifth and sixth as well. Seton Hall's best chance to score late came in the seventh, when the first three hitters of the inning reached base safely. The Butler bullpen was able to escape any damage, stranding two Pirates on base to maintain the lead.
