How it Happened
Seton Hall threatened out of the gates, putting two runners on via a walk and a single with two outs. However, a Nick Tomasetto strikeout erased any threat of early damage for the Pirates. In the bottom half, the Hoyas looked poised to strike first in response by loading the bases with two outs. Seton Hall starter Mason Christopher was able to escape unscathed, forcing a lineout to center field to end the inning.
The Hoyas would break through in the second on a two-run homer, and added another in the fourth on an RBI single. Georgetown's big inning would come later on in the seventh, when a four-spot helped the home side pull away. The Pirates would grab two runs in the top of the ninth, the first on a Joe Marini RBI double and the next on an RBI groundout from Jake Walman.
