South Orange, N.J. – A four-run fifth inning was all the Pirates needed as Seton Hall defeated Saint Peter's, 4-2, in its non-conference finale on Tuesday afternoon.

How it Happened
The Peacocks were the ones able to put the pressure on early, putting two runners abord in the top of the first but were unable to score. Saint Peter's would later crack the scoreboard in the third inning, as an RBI single from Bobby Lavely broke open the scoring.

Seton Hall's bats were held quiet until the fifth, when it would score all four of its runs to take the lead for good. With runners at the corners and one out, a perfectly executed squeeze play from Gabe Cavazzoni brought home Ty Acker with the tying run. Two batters later, Ryan Frontera singled to the opposite field to score two more and give the Pirates a 3-1 edge. Magnus Krieger delivered the final tally of the frame, capping the Pirates' crooked number inning with an RBI knock to center.

Now working with the lead, reliever Stephen Curry settled in to maintain that advantage. The righty worked a shutdown sixth inning, getting three groundouts on just four pitches to keep the Seton Hall lead at three. The Peacocks were able to get one back in the seventh on an RBI double, but Curry stranded the runner in scoring position after inducing two straight groundouts.

Curry then worked a silent eighth, paving the way for the Pirates to finish things off in the ninth. Curry set down the first two batters of the inning, but a two-out walk forced Ryan Reich into the game to get the save. The righty made quick work of his one batter faced, getting a fly out to left field to end the game.
