Frontera Collects Three Hits in Defeat at Butler
5/3/2026 2:33:00 PM | Baseball
How it Happened
Both pitchers got off to solid starts, with Seton Hall's Mason Christopher punching out three Bulldogs through two scoreless innings. Butler's offense began to click in the third inning, scoring six times to gain the early advantage. Seton Hall was able to get two runs closer in the fourth, as a single for Frankie Scrivanic and a walk to Joe Marini put two Pirates aboard with one out. Nick Tomasetto stepped in as a pinch hitter, lacing a ball down the right field line for a two-run triple. That would be as close as the Pirates would get, as the Bulldogs would tack on three insurance runs in the sixth to pull away.
Tomasetto picked up two hits after entering the game during the fourth inning. Ryan Frontera also had a strong day at the dish, going 3-for-5 as he kept hit strong season at the plate going. Jake Walman also got his first start of the season behind the plate and went 1-for-4 on the afternoon.
