Having already served as coordinator of basketball operations, director of basketball operations and an assistant coach, Marissa Flagg was elevated to Assistant Coach / Director of International & Junior College Recruiting during the summer of 2021.
An important part of the Pirates’ recruiting process since joining The Hall, she will now focus on international efforts and student-athletes looking to transfer from two-year statewide institutions. Off the recruiting trail, Flagg has done a little of everything for the program behind-the-scenes and has played in integral role in the player development process.
“Marissa has proved more than capable to take on these enhanced responsibilities,” Head Coach Anthony Bozzella said. “Her hard work and dedication to her craft has been evident since the days I coached her at Iona.”
Flagg became a member of Bozzella's staff at Seton Hall prior to the 2013-14 season and entered her first season as an assistant coach prior to the '16-17 campaign. She previously spent one season as Coordinator of Basketball Operations and two seasons as Director of Basketball Operations.
Flagg was a standout player for Bozzella at Iona College from 2006-11. During her senior season for the Gaels she started in 29 of her 30 games played, averaging 6.6 points and 3.5 assists per game, ranking third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in assists and fifth in steals.
Following graduation Flagg played one full season of international basketball, averaging 10 points, six assists and four steals per game for the San Juan Warriors in San Juan Puerto Rico in 2011, leading the league in steals and assists.
While pursuing her Master's of Business in Administration in Public Relations at Iona, Flagg was a customer service representative for the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a student associate for the Madison Square Garden - Garden of Dreams Foundation. She was also the head coach of the St. Anthony's High School (Melville, N.Y.) freshman girls' basketball team for the 2012-13 season.
During her prep career Flagg starred at Cardozo High School in Queens, N.Y., where she scored more than 1,000 points for the Lady Judges. She averaged 15.6 points and 5.1 assists per game as a senior when she was named a First-Team Daily News and Newsday All-Queens selection.
Flagg graduated from Iona in 2011 with a degree in criminal justice. She earned a Master's of Business in Administration in Public Relations from Iona in 2013.
