SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Head volleyball coach Kris Zeiter has announced the signing of four student-athletes who will join the Seton Hall program in the fall of 2007. Rosalina Hanley, Molly Jabeck, Megan Murison, and Sarah Osmun will take the court as Pirates in the upcoming season.
Hanley, a 5-11 outside hitter from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., comes from Torrey Pines High School and the Laguna Beach Volleyball Club. In 2006, she was named to the North County Times All-North County Team and the All-CIF San Diego Second Team. Hanley, who played on the Southern California High Performance Team in the 2006 Global Challenge in Europe, was named to the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic First Team as a junior and senior.
“Rose will help provide depth at outside hitter,” said Zeiter. “She is on a top club team as well, so the college level will not be a shock to her as a freshman. Rose is extremely energetic and possesses a great work ethic.”
Jabeck, a 5-6 defensive specialist/libero from Buffalo Grove, Ill., played at Adlai E. Stevenson High School and with the Sky High Volleyball Club. As a senior, she helped her team to a 35-5 record as well as conference and regional titles. Jabeck was an All-Academic and All-Conference selection as well as a four-year member of the honor roll.
“Molly is another player who is going to greatly improve the team’s ball control and work ethic,” said Zeiter. “She will be looked to either as a libero or in specific defensive situations.”
Murison, a 5-8 setter from Woodridge, Ill., joins SHU from St. Francis High School and the Sports Performance Volleyball Club. A four-year varsity player, she was a member of state championship teams as a sophomore and senior. In her final two seasons, Murison served as team captain and was named Academic All-Conference.
“Megan is an exceptionally trained setter from the Sports Performance Volleyball Club,” Zeiter said. “She will help give us many options offensively and will provide a great deal of competitiveness at the setter position.”
Osmun, a 5-9 outside hitter from Crystal Lake, Ill., comes from Prairie Ridge High School and Club Fusion. She led her team to a four-year mark of 143-24, including a 42-1 season in 2005. Her team made back-to-back appearances in the IHSA Class AA State Championship, finishing second in both 2004 and 2005. Osmun helped the Club Fusion 16-Black and 17-Black teams to second place finishes as the USA Junior Olympics in 2005 and 2006, and she now plays for the 18-Black squad that is ranked 13th in the country by prepvolleyball.com.
“Sarah will add much needed depth at the outside hitter position,” said Zeiter. “Her club is one of the top clubs in the country, so her level of play is top notch. She will also provide us with an exceptional level of ball control.”
The Pirates finished the 2006 season at 16-14 overall.
