
Volleyball Welcomes Louisville and Cincinnati to Walsh Gym This Weekend

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall volleyball team hosts Louisville and Cincinnati this weekend as they continue BIG EAST competition. The Pirates are 8-13 overall and are tied for ninth place in the conference with a 2-3 league record.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Louisville is in the midst of a five-match road swing, and has alternated wins and losses in its last seven contests. The Cardinals are one of the top offensive teams in the league and boast some of the BIG EAST's top offensive players. Lecia Brown comes into the weekend leading the BIG EAST with a .421 attack percentage and Lola Arslanbekova averages 3.82 kills per set, good for eighth in the conference.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati has won three-of-four coming into the weekend, adn will wrap up its four-match BIG EAST Conference road trip with a visit to Walsh Gym. Freshman Emily Hayden is coming off a season-high 18 kills, while hitting .577 against Notre Dame on Oct. 10. Stephanie Niemer ranks ninth on UC's career kills and aces charts. Niemer and Annie Fesl both rank in the Top-15 nationally in kills per set and assists per set, respectively.
WIZARD OF OZ
Junior Sarah Osmun became just the seventh player in school history to eclipse 1,000-career kills. She has compiled 1,003 kills in under three seasons and needs just 100 more scores to crack the top-five.
PUT IT IN THE (RECORD) BOOKS
After setting the single-season dig record in 2008, senior Allie Matters has shattered the career dig mark. The standout libero surpassed Jessica Pompei in the second set at Fordham on Sep. 11.

BEAT THE STREAK
In addition to setting a new school record, Allie Matters is in the midst of an impressive streak. Matters has notched double-figure digs in 57-straight matches, dating back to the end of the 2007 season, which ranks as the longest active streak in the nation.

OSMUN VS. MARQUETTE
Sarah Osmun continued her dominance against Marquette with a 16-kill, 16-dig effort in Milwaukee last week. In 2007, she tied the school's single-match kill record with 34. When the Golden Eagles played in South Orange last season, she torched them again with a 24 kill, 14 dig effort to help the Pirates come up with a 3-2 win.
TRU-CALLING
Freshman setter Olivia Trudeau has been a solid addition to SHU this season, posting seven double-doubles on the season. In a win over Georgetown, she posted a career-best 54 assists. Trudeau is the first player other than Brittany Rahrer to reach that plateau since 2004.
DIG PINK PART DEUX
For the second straight season, the Seton Hall volleyball team will join hundreds of teams from around the country by participating in the Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally on October 24 when the Pirates host Rutgers. HOME SWEET HOME
Despite a loss in their home opener, the Pirates have played extremely well in South Orange, the past three seasons. SHU finished 9-2 at home last season, and have won 16 of its last 21 at Walsh Gym, dating back to 2007.
EXCORSING THE ROAD DEMONS
The Pirates have two road victories on the season, already surpassing their 2008 total. SHU has lost 17 of its last 20 road matches dating back to 2007.
