
Volleyball Hosts Dig Pink Event against Rutgers Saturday

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall volleyball team will look to snap a four-match skid when they host Rutgers on Saturday, October 24, in Walsh Gym as part of the national "Dig Pink" campaign.
Dig Pink attendees will watch the girls compete on the court while contributing to breast health awareness by making a statement and wearing something PINK in the stands. Dig Pink event t-shirts will be sold prior to the match in the Walsh Gymnasium lobby with a portion of proceeds going to the Side-Out Foundation. In addition, pink silicone "Dig Pink" bracelets for a suggested donation of $1 will be available. There will also be a raffle for a team signed pink jersey (signed by both the Seton Hall and Rutgers volleyball teams).

SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
Rutgers has lost four straight coming into this weekend's match, most recently dropping a 3-1 decision to Fordham during the week. Caitlin Saxton paces the offense, averaging 3.43 kills per set. Jamie Godfrey leads the defense with 3.99 digs per set.

For the second straight season, the Seton Hall volleyball team will join hundreds of teams from around the country by participating in the Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally on October 24 when the Pirates host Rutgers. Junior Sarah Osmun became just the seventh player in school history to eclipse 1,000-career kills. She has compiled 1,042 kills in under three seasons and needs just 61 more scores to crack the top-five.

BEAT THE STREAK
In addition to setting a new school record, Allie Matters is in the midst of an impressive streak. Matters has notched double-figure digs in 60-straight matches, dating back to the end of the 2007 season, which ranks as the longest active streak in the nation.

HANNAH LENDS HELPING HAND
Freshman Hannah Hugeback made her first career starts last weekend against Louisville and Cincinnati, and proved she was worthy of the honor notching double-figure kills in both matches. Against the Cardinals, Hugeback posted her first career double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. On Sunday, she set another career-high with 12 kills.
TRU-CALLING
Freshman setter Olivia Trudeau has been a solid addition to SHU this season, posting eight double-doubles on the season. In a win over Georgetown, she posted a career-best 54 assists. Trudeau is the first player other than Brittany Rahrer to reach that plateau since 2004.
EXCORSING THE ROAD DEMONS
The Pirates have two road victories on the season, already surpassing their 2008 total. SHU has lost 17 of its last 20 road matches dating back to 2007.
