QUEENS, N.Y. - The Seton Hall volleyball team held off a late charge by St. John's to win its second straight road match, 3-2 (25-13, 27-25, 16-25, 16-25, 15-13). The Pirates (10-14, 4-4) return to the court on Friday at USF.

Sophomore Hannah Hugeback (Virginia Beach, Va.) chipped in with 12 kills and seven digs, and freshman Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) had a team-high 17 digs.
The Pirates' middles stepped up with strong games, as junior Krissy Wrobel (Reading, Pa.) and sophomore Morgan DeVries (Grand Rapids, Mich.) had nine kills and five blocks each. Sophomore Olivia Trudeau (Shell Beach, Calif.) recorded 57 assists.
Diana Banya led the Red Storm (15-10, 2-6) with 21 kills.
The Hall's offense was extremely efficient in set one, as the team finished with a .556 attack percentage. Contributions came from all over early, and DeVries and Hugeback combined for a block that gave the Pirates a 13-5 lead. Matuisiak later had two aces as part of a 5-0 run that made it 20-10, and a pair of kills from Wrobel down the stretch sealed a 25-13 win in the opening frame.
Set two was a much closer affair, and the score was knotted at 21 late. Hugeback put the Pirates ahead by one with a kill before Brunna Kronbauer tied it back up. After a service error by the Red Storm, Matusiak made it 24-22 with a point, but St. John's rallied for the next three points to lead 25-24. The scored evened up again following another service error, and Matusiak followed with an ace to give the Hall match point. Osmun rose to the occasion, putting down the set from Trudeau to make it 27-25 and give Seton Hall a 2-0 lead.
St. John's rallied to win the next two sets and force the decisive fifth. It was a tense, back-and-forth game, and the Red Storm rallied from three down to tie it at 10. Seton Hall trailed by one when a kill from Osmun and a block by Trudeau made it 13-12. St. John's tied it once more, but Matusiak came up with a point before a huge block by Wrobel gave the Pirates a 15-13 victory.
