
Cross Country Opens Season at Monmouth Kick-Off

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Seton Hall cross country teams opened up the 2011 season at the Monmouth Kick-Off meet on Saturday morning. Freshman Mary Migton (Ledgewood, N.J.) led the women's team to a fifth place finish (out of nine squads) with a ninth place finish, completing her first collegiate race in 15:15.6.
The men took eighth place in the 6K with junior Jared Hanko (Montville, N.J.) leading the way after a 40th place finish, running a time of 20:23.8.
Junior Hughnique Rolle (Nassau, Bahamas) secured 14th place, crossing the finish line in 15:34.7. Sophomore Nyala Eddings (Chicago, Ill.) ended the 4K in 16:25.3 to take 30th place. Junior Christina Chafos (South Amboy, N.J.) placed 62nd (17:26.4), while senior Jehmessah Walker (Newport News, Va.) was 72nd in 17:58.1.
Freshman Kevin Walsh (Deltaville, Va.) placed 53rd (20:49.5) and was followed by Erik Chester (Danielson, Conn.), who came in 57th in 20:58.5. Sophomore Carl Johnston (Surrey, British Columbia) turned in a time of 21:07.1 to finish 62nd, while sophomore Tony Cramond (Monroe, Conn.) rounded out the top-five with a 65th place finish in 21:11.6.
The Pirates return to action next Saturday, September 10, at the Fordham Fiasco in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
