The Seton Hall women's soccer team finished the last academic year with a 3.43 grade point average, and the Pirates were one of 15 programs from the BIG EAST Conference to receive the award. Seton Hall ranked fifth overall out of the 14 conference teams on the list.
"We are very proud of our whole team because of their academic accomplishments," Seton Hall head women's soccer coach Kazbek Tambi said. "We have made it a priority to take pride in our play on the field and success in the classroom. Our players are doing a great job of balancing soccer and academics and they have been at the top end of the BIG EAST academically for the past several years, something we want to maintain in the future."
The NSCAA Team Academic Award is bestowed annually to collegiate soccer programs that post a minimum team grade point average of 3.0.
A total of 497 collegiate women's soccer programs earned the Team Academic Award for 2011-12.
