Men's Golf Releases Fall Schedule

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Head Coach Clay White unveiled the Seton Hall men's golf team's 2012 fall schedule on Thursday. The Pirates will compete in six tournaments beginning with the Navy Fall Classic on Sept. 8-9.
"This is a strong fall schedule that I believe will prepare us for competition and the BIG EAST Championship in April," White said. "We have a nice blend of new events and repeat tournaments that we're comfortable with. I'm excited to get the fall started."
Seton Hall will open play with the Navy Fall Classic on Sept 8-9 in Annapolis, Md. It will be the first time since the fall of 2009 that the Pirates have participated in this event. In 2009, Seton Hall performed well with a third place showing among a field of 17 teams. Senior Brandon Park (Weston, Fla.) is the lone current to have played in that tournament. The two-time All-BIG EAST performer led the team with an even-par, 68-74-142, to tie for ninth among all individual golfers.
A week later, Seton Hall will make the short trip down the New Jersey Turnpike to Piscataway for the Rutgers Invitational, an event the Pirates have dominated in recent years. It will be the seventh time in the last eight years that Seton Hall has participated in this tournament. In that time, the Pirates have logged four top-five finishes including team victories in 2006 and 2008. Last season, the team placed third among 16 teams. Junior Gary Dunne (Wickow, Ireland) tied for eighth among 83 individual golfers with a career-best 5-over-par, 75-70-73-218.
On Monday, Sept. 24, Seton Hall will begin play at the Hartford Hawks Invitational. The Pirates last competed in this event in 2008 and tied for 14th among a large field of 23 teams. There are no current Pirates on the roster that have participated in this event in the past.
Nearly two weeks later, the Pirates will travel north to Apalachin, N.Y. for the Binghamton University Invitational at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. It will be the first time that Seton Hall has participated in this tournament.
Exactly one week later, Seton Hall will return to a familiar tournament with the Big 5 Classic in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. It will be the fourth time in five years that the Pirates have competed in this event. Last fall, Seton Hall tied for eighth among 22 teams. Brandon Park tied for the team lead with an 8-over-par, 69-79-148, and tied for 25th among 114 individual golfers. Seton Hall placed as high as second at this event in 2007 and 2008.
October 21 - 22, Seton Hall will complete the 2012 fall season by hosting its annual Barnabas Health Intercollegiate at Fairmount Country Club in Chatham, N.J. It will be the fourth straight year that the Pirates have hosted the tournament. Seton Hall has never finished worse than fourth in the event and placed second in a field of 17 teams last season. Park led all Pirates with an even-par, 69-75-144, to tie for first among all individual golfers, but lost the tie-breaker.
