It is the first time in their careers that either Mims or Clarke have received BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll accolades.
Mims is recognized for her outstanding play in the Seton Hall backfield last week, as the Pirates picked up a 3-0 win over Monmouth on Aug. 28, and then withstood an early charge from Delaware to come back and defeat the Blue Hens, 2-1, in overtime on Friday, Aug. 31.
Seton Hall recorded four-straight shutouts to start the season for the first time in program history, and the Pirates have allowed just one goal through the first five matches of the year. Seton Hall ranks second in the BIG EAST in goals allowed and goals against average (0.20).
Mims has started all five games in the backfield for Seton Hall, lasting all 90 minutes for the Pirates in each game. She played a key role in keeping Monmouth off the scoreboard in the shutout win last Tuesday, with the Hawks being the first team to outshoot Seton Hall this season.
After giving up an early goal to Delaware on Friday afternoon, Mims helped anchor a defensive unit that cutoff the Blue Hen attack over the next 90 minutes, allowing the Pirates to come back and secure a 2-1 win in overtime.
That overtime goal against Delaware came from Clarke, Seton Hall's other Weekly Honor Roll recipient. After junior forward Brittney Albrecht (Mahwah, N.J.) had a shot saved by Delaware keeper Jessica Levy, Clarke was there to fire two shots in succession, with the second counting as the game winner.
Clarke also registered a pair of assists in the 3-0 win over Monmouth. Her first assist came on a cross to Kristina Meier (Paramus, N.J.) in 13th minute, a goal that doubled as the game-winner. Just over 10 minutes later Clarke connected with Meier once again, this time with a great crossing pass off a corner kick.
Clarke leads Seton Hall with seven points through the first five games of the season; she is tied for the team lead with two goals and has tallied a team-high three assists.
Seton Hall is off to a 5-0 start for the first time in program history, and the five-game winning streak is the third longest in school history.
The Pirates (5-0) return to action on Monday night when they travel to West Point, N.Y., to take on Army. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
