WSOC Receives NSCAA Academic Award

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall University women's soccer team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year, it was announced Thursday by the association.
This is the second-straight year in which the Seton Hall women's soccer program has been recognized by the NSCAA for academic excellence.
In order to receive the award, a team must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Pirates finished last year with a 3.41 cumulative GPA and had 20 team members receive BIG EAST Academic All-Star recognition. Over the summer, the NCAA announced that the women's soccer program had achieved a perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) for the 2011-12 academic year.
Additionally, eight women's soccer players were inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society Chi Alpha Sigma in the spring of 2013, including five in Meghan Hayes (Fredon, N.J.), Marie Klemme (Berlin, Germany), Jennifer Pettigrew (Kearny, N.J.), Katie Ritter (Hagerstown, Md.) and Amie Ruhe (Monrovia, Md.) who played for the Pirates this season.
A total of 593 women's soccer programs across the nation received the award.
