PRINCETON, N.J. – J.T. Harper (Pebble Beach, Calif.),
Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) and
David Cha (Carrollton, Texas) all shot a 5-over-par, 76, in Sunday’s final round to elevate the Seton Hall men’s golf team to an 11
th place finish at the 2013 Princeton Invitational. The Pirates entered the final round in 13
th place, but were able to move up, passing BIG EAST rival Georgetown, due largely to the final round play of the aforementioned trio. Collectively, the Pirates finished with a 66-over-par, 305-306-306-918, exactly 50 strokes behind the team champion, Yale. Harper tied for 19
th among a field of 75 individual golfers and was the top Pirate performer this weekend. The sophomore finished with a 10-over-par, 74-73-76-223. He finished 14 strokes behind a pair of Temple golfers, Brandon Matthews and Matthew Teesdale, for the individual crown. The remaining four Pirate golfers finished within five strokes of each other.
Wilson tied for 52nd place overall with a 19-over-par, 78-78-76-232, while Cha finished only one stroke behind at 20-over-par with a 78-79-76-233.
Junior Gary Dunne (Wicklow, Ireland) finished just two strokes behind Cha with a 22-over-par, 75-81-79-235, while Marc Kunesch (Newton, N.J.) completed play just two strokes behind Dunne with a 24-over-par, 81-76-80-237.
Seton Hall will return to the links next weekend when they head to State College, Pennsylvania for the Rutherford Intercollegiate.
