SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head Coach Clay White announced the 2013 Seton Hall men’s golf fall schedule on Monday. The Pirates will participate in six tournaments this fall. Seton Hall will open the fall season as they have for three of the last four years, at the Tiger Intercollegiate at Turning Stone, hosted by the University of Missouri, Sept. 1-2. The Pirates didn’t play there last fall, but finished sixth of 14 teams in 2011. Junior Derrick Kim (New City, N.Y.) was the second-best Seton Hall performer and shot 11-over-par. In 2009, the Pirates placed third. “We’re going back to Turning Stone to open the fall season,” White said. “I wanted to jump start the schedule with a good, competitive tournament. It’ll be a nice challenge for us.” Two weeks later, Seton Hall will return to The McLaughlin at Bethpage Red in Farmingdale, N.Y. The McLaughlin used to be a regular tournament for the Pirates, but they haven’t participated since 2007. That year, Seton Hall finished fourth and set the program record for lowest three round score on a par-70 course (856). “We’re looking forward to returning to this tournament after missing it for the last few years,” White said. “Bethpage Red is a great golf course, and some people think it’s just as challenging as the Black Course. We’re excited to be back in what is always a talented field.” On September 23, Seton Hall will take on the field at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull’s Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn. for a second straight year. Last fall, the Pirates tied for 11th among 16 teams. Kim again led the Pirates at 12-over-par. The following weekend, September 28-29, the Pirates will travel to Chicago for the John Dallio Memorial Tournament at Ruffled Feathers Golf Course. Seton Hall last played this tournament in 2008 and placed eighth among 15 teams. The Pirates’ 4-under-par, 284, in the second round is tied for the second-lowest par-72 single-round score in program history. “It’s a nice opportunity for us to return to Chicago and play against some of our new BIG EAST competition,” White said. “We expect Butler and Xavier to be a part of the field, so it’ll be a nice opportunity for us to see the new conference members prior to the BIG EAST Championship this spring.” Seton Hall will return to Plymouth Meeting, Pa. for the Big 5 Classic for the third straight season, Oct. 12-13. Last fall, the Pirates placed 17th. Sophomore Cory Wilson (Newton, N.J.) placed the Pirates at 18-over-par. Seton Hall tied for second among 15 teams in 2007. Finally, the Pirates will close the 2013 fall season by hosting their own tournament, the Barnabas Health Intercollegiate, Oct. 20-21, at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, N.J. It’s the fifth straight year that Seton Hall will host this prestigious tournament. The Pirates tied for eighth in last fall’s event. Wilson tied for ninth among all individual golfers with a 6-over-par score. “I’m really happy with the schedule,” White said. “September will be a grind with four events, but I think it’ll well prepare us for the spring. I’m excited to get started.”
