Rutkowski ran at an elite level, finishing sixth overall out of 109 of the best runners in the area with a time of 18:48.5 in the 5K event. The freshman has finished in the top-six in all five invitationals that the Pirates have participated in this fall. The sixth-place mark in the Bronx on Friday comes after Rutkowski was the top collegiate finisher in the Asics Embry-Riddle Classic two weeks ago with a time of 19:08.44.
Migton was just seconds away from breaking into the top ten for the Pirates with a time of 19:07.7. The Ledgewood native improved upon her mark at the Asics Embry-Riddle Classic two weeks ago, when she finished with a time of 20:29.06. The senior has ran as was advertised in the preseason, ranking no lower than third on the squad in her four meets this fall.
Sophomore Desyre Blackburn (Aloha, Ore.) kept her solid start to the fall rolling, scoring in her fifth straight meet. After scoring in every race last year, Blackburn has not let up. The sophomore finished in 37th with a time of 20:12.5. Freshman Emily Johnson (Wildwood Crest, N.J.) rounded out the Pirates' top four with a time of 20:33.3.
Delivering scoring efforts as well for the blue and white were sophomore Amanda Quaglia (Reading, Pa.) (20:55.40), who has placed among the top-three for the Seton Hall women in all but one event this fall.
The Pirates edged fellow Big East member St. John's by just a point to hop into the top half of the standings on Friday. Rutgers ran away with the championship in the Bronx, racking up 23 points and winning by over 50 with Fordham as the runner-up.
Through the halfway point of the season, The Hall has two runner-up finishes and was able to earn a win in the Hofstra/St. John's Fall Festival in September.
To prepare for the BIG EAST Championship Meet, Seton Hall will visit Easton, PA. on Saturday, Oct. 18, to take on competition in the Leopard Invitational. The event is hosted by Lafayette as head coach John Moon looks for his team to build up for the conference meet.
